2024 Almond Insurance Industry Awards

All is set for the 2024 edition of the Almond Insurance Industry Awards and Consumers’ Nite tagged #Reinvent Edition, the annual event that brings together Top-Rated Entertainers, Insurance Practitioners, Policymakers, Insurance Companies (Corporate & Individuals), Academia, and the Paramilitary Forces. It is slated to hold on November 1st, 2024, at the Queens Park Events Centre, Water Corporation Drive, Trinity Avenue, off Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Almond Insurance Industry Awards and Consumers’ Nite, which started in 2018, is aimed at rewarding the Can-Do spirit of the men and women in the various arms (Regulators, Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Loss Adjusters, and Insurance Agents) of the insurance industry who strive daily to sell insurance products and services in Nigeria, despite the numerous challenges, the business environment, and the generally low level of insurance acceptability amongst Nigerians, yet they still forge ahead to underwrite huge businesses through Gross Premium Income (GPI).

The 2024 Awards have been streamlined to meet international standards. Some categories have been dropped, and some introduced to engender inclusivity.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Almond Productions Limited, Faith Ughwode, “The annual Awards is a sure way to open up the insurance industry, which has been very conservative for too long.

According to her, I believe strongly that the Nigerian Insurance Industry can be opened up through Pop Culture and Technology, popularly known as Insurtech.”

Nigeria’s current demographic data shows that Generation Z (Gen Z) makes up 40–50% of our population with disposable income. To attract this bloc of people to the insurance industry—either as employees or consumers of insurance products and services—requires intentional social platforms that resonate with them.

For so long, the conventional norm for pushing insurance conversations in the public domain has been through conferences and seminars. Whilst this may have worked for a segment of our population, especially policymakers, we believe there is a sweet spot in using Pop Culture to change people’s views and increase the acceptance of insurance. That is the essence of the Awards and Consumers’ Nite.

Corporate sponsorship for commercial exposure with entertainers is the new normal for 21st-century business leaders. We are inviting insurance industry front-liners to come on board this train to further enhance their presence in the financial services ecosystem.

For reference purposes, banking giants like GTB and UBA have perfected the art of engaging their customers in the public through social platforms (with entertainers) such as the GTB Fashion Hub, Food and Drinks Festivals, and the UBA Marketplace. These are mega events that draw new customers into the banking system annually.

Whilst the insurance industry may not have the financial strengths of the banking sector, they must take baby steps in exploring pop culture, as they cannot afford to be left behind in the drive to deepen financial inclusion—because they are a critical equation in the mix.

Please note that this event is for adults only, as performing artists are uncensored.
