Speaking at the press conference marking the official opening of nominations for the Awards, the Chairman of the Awards Panel of Judges, Ms. Prisca Soares, the Immediate Past Secretary-General of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO), highlighted the importance of the Awards and its contributions to the industry.
While commending the industry’s efforts in promoting insurance awareness, she said there is still a significant gap between awareness and actual penetration, especially when measured against the country’s vast population, calling for fresh thinking and innovative platforms to drive the message further.
Ms. Prisca noted that the Almond Insurance Industry Awards is one of the platforms created to drive insurance education and awareness in Nigeria, as she expressed a strong belief in the power of the Awards to shine a positive light on the industry, given the feedback and participation from previous editions.
In ensuring that the Almond Insurance Industry Awards meet international standards of similar awards in other jurisdictions, Ms Prisca explained that some categories of the awards were dropped and new ones introduced to engender inclusivity across the entire spectrum, emphasising that the 2025 edition will continue to reinforce these standards.
